Introduction:

Talc Mg3Si4O10(OH)2 the name has been in use since antiquity and is derived from the Arabic. Talc is a highly lamellar product. It is suitable for applications where very fine, pure and bright product is required.

History:

Talc, a hydrous silicate of magnesium, crystallizes in the monoclinic system. It ranges in color from white to greenish gray or dark green. It occurs as flakes. The specific gravity ranges from 2.6 to 2.8. It has a greasy feel and a hardness of 1 to 1.5. The most common impurities are dolomite, calcite, quartz and serpentine.
